Ok so....
A VERY belated MERRY CHRISTMAS to all on my flist, and a not so belated, but still 19 and a half hours late, HAPPY NEW YEARS to all!!!!
I have a few resolutions, one being to be a more regular poster on here of non fandom related stuff, and to be a better LJ friend. I am on LJ every day for i'd say a few hours, but always forget to post, and often read entries but don't comment (my bad)... lol. So yeah hopefully you will all be hearing a bit more from me this year... SUFFER!!!
Anyway i hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and new years!!!

2010 is here! Decided to change my layout to start the year afresh (thanks for the rec, ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) burntcircles!) Happy New Year to you all and I sincerely hope there aren't too many sore heads this morning, lol. *g*
We've had a very lazy New Year's day at Chez Foxx so far. Didn't get up until the sinfully late time of 9am! An absolute miracle. Scary thing is I could get used to that kind of start to the day in a SECOND, people. :)
Now that we're in the month of January, everyone's looking forward to the annual Foxx family holiday - it's only nine more days before we head off to Fingal Bay!! Woo hoo! I. Cannot. Wait. :o)

and boy, I hope it's better than the last one. :0
We're back from our trip to Oregon, where we had a nice time visiting family. We ate too much (darn my mother's pies, and my sister's pfefferneus house!), played laser tag, and read a lot of "Go Ducks!" articles in the Eugene newspaper.
On the way back down I-5, we saw a lot of Ducks fans heading down to the Rose Bowl, and even a farming business in Weed, California with a billboard to cheer them on. Awwwww. :)
Because my MIL's mail is all being forwarded to our house, we discovered that she had subscribed to Wired magazine. Talk about surprises! She had a lively intellect and curiosity, but it was still unexpected. I read the magazine during the long drive north, and it turns out that it's not all-gadgets-all-the-time as I thought. I read the issue cover-to-cover, and found three articles worth sharing:
The Neuroscience Of Failure - How and why scientists ignore unexpected data, and all the reasons that they shouldn't. This was fascinating.
Alec Baldwin - The hilariously self-described cycle of "Fail" and "Save" in Baldwin's life as an actor and a person.
Now Playing: Cheap-and-Schlocky Blockbuster Ripoffs - How the folks at The Asylum work to bring you movies like Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (Wincon shoutout!), Snakes On A Train, and an upcoming version of Sherlock Holmes featuring the detective, a robot, a dinosaur, and some other stuff. Damn, this was funny. I seriously need to see that AU Sherlock Holmes when it comes out!
But wait, there's more! While up in Oregon, one of my nieces was wearing a shirt with a very strange dragon on it titled "Trogdor The Burninator." That led to my sister showing us the insanity behind the shirt, which is a series of videos from homestarrunner.com in which a character named Strong Bad answers emails. The "Trogdor" one is by far the best ("Consumate Vs!" and "burninating" as a verb quickly become burninated into your brain), but there are tons of them. Here's a sample:

Author's Notes: I've been writing this forever. And it might take you that long to read it. Sorry. But it's finally finished. *weak-assed w00t* The musical sequence has been in my head for ages, and I hope it works on paper. There are times when I realize how futile fanfic can be in the Glee fandom because the music makes it a much more visual-friendly medium.
Additional A/N: When I started writing this, it was just because Puck and Quinn have captured my imagination. As a wannabe writer, I felt compelled to learn them and try to create something about them because they so intrigue me. I wrote another short and fluffy fic months ago that I really hate because it's just so--sanitized. I'd remove it from LJ if there hadn't been people who really enjoyed it because I just hate that I wrote it. This, however, is something that is hard and twisty, but still has a hopeful ending, I think. To me, this is truth, and so I'm proud of having created it. Also, since I'm pretty sure I'm never going to get P/Q onscreen (as the Puck/Rachel movement is definitely being heard by TPTB at Glee), it just makes me even happier that I wrote this while there was still some canon P/Q stuff to go off of.

My life has become such a cliche. I've always prided myself in my individuality - my separateness from others. How different I am, when in the end I'm just the same as everyone else. I have no unique thoughts. I have no new stories to tell. I have the same issues and problems as others. Being different, or trying to be, has really brought me nothing but contempt from some, rebuke from others and disaproval from most. Why do I still care about what others think? It is of no consequence really.
I look at myself in the mirror and I see an almost middle aged woman who tries to hide her wrinkles under make up, her grey hair under amonia and her age under too young clothes. I have become that what I most dispise, someone who tries to be something she's not. Posted via LiveJournal.app.

Merry Smekday to jlotheboov, who might be a Boov or a bot or a person, but who has today marked on LJ as "birthday" because it is definitely Smekday. \o/
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and I hope the rest of you have been enjoying the holidays as much as possible. I've been fairly absentee lately, busy getting Christmas ready on a solo basis, but I've tried to keep up on everyone's journals when I can and am thinking good thoughts for you all.
I had this vague fantasy of writing several Yuletide Madness stories, in case I got permission to post them, but despite my best efforts I got only one of them written. The others just would not budge (*kicks non-existent Big Eden muse in the butt*)—which is kind of the story of my year, when you think about it.
Love and cookies to all, and I'll be in and out over the next week as we head up north to Oregon tomorrow. ♥ ♥ ♥

There are two gifts that no matter how wrapped they are, you know what they are by their shape and that's a giant Toblerone and a bike. I have one under tree for me, and it's the less healthy of the two. Lol. Nom nom but OMG spoiler!
And aww, there's a present under the tree for me from the dog, which (thank God) is not a metaphor.
